As we've discussed in Part 1, link building is a bona fide way of generating
new customers and building traffic to your website. Your website link posted on
another relevant website (with a similar niche) will draw interest and produce
click-throughs off the roof. We've also mentioned the use of e-mails as the best
way to contact link partners and how to avoid being mistaken for a scam artist.
Remember, ISP can terminate or blacklist your mail server if you send out
unsolicited commercial email (spam). Of course, a couple of complaints won't
drive your Internet Service Provider from taking action, but 10+ complains can
send out warning flares. Many honest webmasters have been targeted by ISP's for
supposed spamming. Because of this, it is recommended to email sites with their
own web address and not sites hosted by generic brands like Angelfire and
50megs.com. A cluttered inbox full of spam is troublesome at times, so try to
avoid sending it. The image of your company or business can be tarnished by
sending these virtually worthless pieces of mail.
Below is an example email that does an excellent job of representing what a link
request should look like.

Hello,
Greetings. I am the Vice President and Co-Founder of Mega Processors, Inc. a
company devoted to troubleshooting computer problems and offering services over
the Internet. We have a lot of informational content on troubleshooting hard
disk problems, preventing computer maintenance, and pretty much everything that
has to do with computer repair.
Having visited your site www.site.com and finding it interesting, I'd like to
exchange links with you. I believe both of us will reap the advantages because a
link partnership can boost our indirect traffic from high search engine rankings
and generate direct traffic simply through link click-throughs. If you are
interested, please contact me and I'll be glad to add your link to my Partners
page at www.site.com today or tomorrow. If you'd like to reach me in person,
please call 555-3253 or email me anytime. I'd love to collaborate with you and
reap in the rewards together later.
Regards
John S. Vice President of Mega Processors
